Parent problem Googler!

At the beginning of this year, I wrote here about the dangers of Googling parental queries. It’s a pretty obvious one. Googling is like a red rag to a hypochondriac, if you’re anywhere near as hysterical as I am, a google too far and you could end up diagnosing bubonic plague when it’s just a runny nose. Guaranteed if you admit to others that you are a PPG (parenting problem Googler) it will be met with shrieks of “DON’T Google stuff!”

Welcome baby Dafne!

So far in my blogs for first 1,000 days I’ve been talking about being pregnant. Now I can finally blog about a baby! Dafne O’Leary was born at the end of July. She was in no hurry and arrived a week late

Henry on hunger strike

Henry is nearly a year and a half now, and he has become a complete non-eater. This is bizarre to me because obviously Tom and I are two of the greediest, food-obsessed, non-stop eaters you will ever meet. At meal times, we watch baffled as Henry rejects every single delicacy put in front of him. … read more >

Milestone Moments

Cal took his first steps two weeks ago, at fourteen and a half months. Watching a child’s development is so amazing.  To watch them grow from a helpless little creature a few short months ago to a strong little toddler. I am in awe of life when I look at Cal.

Third Trimester Trials & Tribulations!

I’m in my third trimester now and noticing some significant changes – baby is much more active (which is a magical feeling!) and my bump is getting noticeably bigger every week.  I’m also a bit more uncomfortable at night. Baby is growing at a rapid rate now so I do need a little more energy than previous weeks.  The Food Safety Authority of Ireland recommends 500 extra calories per day in the third trimester so I’m adding in more snacks to my daily food intake – like this brown soda bread recipe.

The final countdown

Hi guys, I just want to give you a quick update on how things are going in my third trimester. I have just a few weeks left of my pregnancy and I can confirm that I’m feeling…big! Once I reached the 30 week mark I started to feel like the end was near, but as … read more >

The First 1000 Days Café

On the 4th and 5th of July 2015, we opened the First 1000 Days Café for one weekend only. The pop up restaurant which was hosted in Airfield Dundrum was a huge success and we had so much fun with lots of mums, dads, babies and toddlers. Our First 1000 Days ambassador Neven Maguire was … read more >

Toddler on board!

Many times I witnessed the unfortunate ‘people with baby’ on a plane scenario and had roundly decided that no exotic location would ever be worth that torture. Then we had a couple of days sunshine here, which I found to be quite intoxicating and I was overcome with the urge to experience more good weather. This would require boarding a plane with baby Henry. I was terrified.

Third Trimester

The weeks seem to be flying by for me and with every week that passes I get a little bit more excited with a slight bit of apprehension thrown into the mix! I have an app on my iphone that beeps in with updates on my pregnancy which is really nice to read each week. … read more >

1 year old

I can’t believe Cal is a year old already; time does really fly with a baby. Each week brings massive development. He went from crawling to standing in a day; clinching for dear life onto the couch, but with the determination of a seasoned climber. He beamed proudly at me as he stood in the … read more >
